Mozilla background goes black when viewing certain pages under eXceed

When using the Mozilla web browser to view a "long" web page (ie where you
have to scroll down several times), typically with lots of text
(http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-2.95.3/gcc_2.html is just an example of a
long page that it happens on), then under Hummingbird's eXceed X server, the
background goes black when you start scrolling down. This happens regardless
of what bgcolor is set to in the html, or what the default background color
is set to in preferences.
Ive posted this to Bugzilla
(http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=173934) but I suspect this is
an eXceed problem as it works fine under other X servers.
Anyone else seen this/know a fix ? Ive tried playing around with eXceed's
tuning and various backing store and save-under options but with no luck.
