Problems connecting with source ports below 1024 with Exceed 6.x

Hi,
we have a number of users still using Exceed 6.x who have trouble connecting to our servers using Exceed rsh/telnet sessions because network security filters won't allow source ports below 1024 for these connections.
I found in the list archives a solution for Exceed 7.x (quote from Dave Pelletier on 12/30/2003) :
'Try adding the following to the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hummingbird\Connectivity\7.00\Exceed\Transport]
"BasePortNum"=dword:00000800 = The dword is any value above 1024 in decimal.
You will need to create the Transport key as well as the dword value under
it.'
But since Exceed 6.x doesn't use the same keys in the registry (in fact the branches are very different from the 7.x ones), does any one have a solution to get the same result with 6.x ?
Thanks in advance,
F. Fricaux
