Exceed 8.0 slow to connect

Hi,
We have had problems with slowness in establishing connections to our Solaris 8 machines.
Our fix has been to add host names and ip number of the solaris machines to the windows hosts file on which Exceed is running.
Why is this happening? It has only been happening since version 8. Our older versions do not have this problem.
Do we have to configure something to prevent a "hostname" from being sent during the initial connection process?
