XP and Visual Basic Excel Macros

We are converting over to XP. The screen scrape programs we've been using seem to get out of time sync with the screen refresh rate. Some programs seem to cause HostExplorer to disconnect; others seem to skip a page, then record info from the next screen refresh.
Help?
