Connection troubles

Ever since I installed hummingbird so that I could use exceed to connect to
the computer lab computers at my school I have not been able to telnet into
those machines at all. I use: run... telnet... then open ... Also I have not
been able to ftp into anything either. I am using cuteftp32 for my ftp
program. Also I have yet to make a successful connection using exceed
it tells me : unable to connect to host using specified start method. I have
tried using all the available start methods and I get the same error
everytime.
When I try to telnet I get: Could not open a connection to host: connect
failed.
I also get a similar error when I use FTP.
I didn't get these before I installed hummingbird and exceed 7.1 so maybe it
changed some sort of connection setting you know about.
My internet still works as does downloading with p2p programs. My home
network still works fine also and so does AIM.
I am running Windows 2000 professional and any help with this would be
appreciated.
I hope I have provided enough information that you will be able to help me.
Thanks for your time,
Paul
