This is usually indicative of a name resolution problem and not an Exceed
configuration issue.
Take a look at the /var/dt/Xerrors files right after an attempted connection
to a failed host. You can also try running nslookup from the PC to both the
hostname and ip address of the UNIX host. Then telnet to this host and run
nslookup to the hostname and ip address of your PC. Do they all resolve
properly?

Subject: [EXCEEDUSERS] CDE login trouble
Hello,
When trying to login to the systems from exceed we only get a gray screen.
CDE login does not start. Dtlogin is running. Does anyone know what other
processes need to be running to get CDE login to start? I've tried this with
Exceed 7 and 9, both have the same issue on one host. Most of the Unix
machines that I've tried have been HP-UX. I've tried tuning the Xserver
through exceed, I've tried some differnt xdmp host files, I've tried
changing some of the settings like panning, screen size, extensions, etc,
basic little changes mostly. They all have produced the same result, no
change. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help folks,
Brad Soileau
