Ross,

I'm still having the problem but not as frequently as before. We really
haven't done much with the Exceed settings and nothing with the registry.
My ~/.xsession-errors showed errors that seemed to indicate the corruption
was occurring due to network problems, causing timeouts and apparently
shutting down the connection.

BTW: my Linux box has a similar kernel but with much more modest dual 1
GHz Xeons.
