The TextBridge OCR engine provides access to 13 different language dictionaries plus permitting implementation of a user defined dictionary. The engine recognizes characters, forms words, and checks them against the dictionaries - if you wish. The user-defined dictionary is particularly useful in aiding with recognition of scientific terms, names, and local vocabularies, provided by you. Field further fine tune accuracy in recognizing forms by specifying the data type and presentation of certain fields like dates, social security numbers or telephone number field types.

Automatically compensate for "special" layouts
The Scansoft TextBridge OCR engine accommodates columns, sections, dot matrix printed text, faxed documents, distorted or degraded images, half-tone shading, inverted text, rotated originals and skewed originals. The higher the recognition effort setting, the higher the accuracy and the more time is devoted to the processing activity. Teach the engine to recognize unusual fonts with a built in visual interface - the engine presents characters that it isn't certain of, and provides a verification dialog box where you can enter corrections. After learning the correct reading from the operator, the trained engine consults the learning file in future recognition attempts. Output results can be saved in popular word processing formats (version 3.2 only).
